Here is an interesting article on VTOL drones. It really highlights the new Sony drone, but has examples of a few more. This is really going to change things once we can use them for fire-rescue, SAR and law enforcement. It is the best of both worlds. Having the capabilities of a quad-, hex- or octo-copter combined with the endurance and range of a fixed wing is going to be a game changer.
